Assessor Application — Guidelines

A few minutes reading this now saves a lot of back-and-forth later.

Who this is for

Two tracks are supported, picked on the form itself — you don't need to know which one applies before you start:

  • Institution (formal) — you assess candidates registered at a formal institution. You'll pick a home institution and the programs/papers you're qualified to assess.
  • World of Work (informal) — you assess occupation-based candidates. You'll name your employer and upload proof of employment instead of picking a home institution, and pick the occupations you're qualified to assess.

Have these ready before you start

The application is one continuous form split into four tabs — you can move between them freely and nothing you've typed is lost while you do. Having the following ready on your device first makes it a single sitting:

  • Your 10-digit phone number (this becomes your login) and, optionally, an email address.
  • A scanned copy of your National ID (Ugandan nationals) or passport bio page (foreign nationals).
  • Your 14-character National Identification Number (NIN), exactly as printed on your ID card — Ugandan nationals only.
  • A profile photo (JPG or PNG) — it's compressed automatically, so any reasonable photo works.
  • Scanned copies of your academic certificates/transcripts — one file per document, you can add as many as you need.
  • Details of any professional licenses you hold, if applicable.
  • Your employment history — employers, titles, and dates.
  • If applying under World of Work: proof of employment (e.g. an appointment letter or employer ID).

Constraints worth knowing up front

Phone number10 digits, starting with 0 (e.g. 0772000000). Becomes your login — must not already be registered.
Alternate numbersOptional. Same 10-digit format; each must differ from your primary number and from each other.
EmailOptional, but if provided it must be unique — not already used by another account.
PasswordAt least 8 characters recommended. For your security, it is never kept if the form is sent back with an error — you'll enter it once, right before your final, successful submission.
NINExactly 14 characters, matching your National ID card. Required for Ugandan nationals; foreign nationals use a passport number instead.
Profile photoJPG or PNG. Large images are compressed automatically to about 200KB.
DocumentsScanned copies, ideally around 200KB each.
Uploaded filesFor your browser's security, a file you've selected cannot be carried over if the form is sent back with an error elsewhere — you'll need to select it again.

If the form is sent back with an error

You'll be taken straight to the tab with the problem, and everything you've entered elsewhere is exactly as you left it — with two exceptions, both for security and both outside any website's control: files you'd selected, and your password. Re-select those, fix what's flagged, and resubmit.

Need to re-read this later?

Once you're on the application, a "Guidelines" button stays available at the top of the page — it opens this same information without leaving the form or losing anything you've filled in.

Ready? The form remembers your tab-to-tab progress — you can also reopen these guidelines from inside it.
